Very recently, I happened to know about this group of Delhi based food bloggers through one of the member’s blog which inspires me a lot. Blogger’s Table is a bunch of food bloggers, who meet up regularly, at least twice in a month for food reviews, talks and food photography. I thought not to miss the chance to catch up with like minded people who love to talk and discuss about food. Being quite fledgling, it was a beautiful surprise for me to get accepted so warm-heartedly.
It was my first meet up on last Tuesday, with the group at Cafe G, Crowne Plaza, Gurgaon. Situated right on the business hub of suburbia, this restaurant boasts of serving the world cuisine, with different cuisine everyday. I was a bit early as scheduled. And when I stepped into their restaurant, the shimmer of the chandeliers, gleamed through my eyes. It was perfectly complimented by the coolness of marble floor.
While I was waiting for my friends to join, Sarad Upadhyay, The Director Food & Beverage, walked me through the buffet. It was Italian for that night. The menu was tremendous, I must say. From soup to antipasti to cold cuts to contorni to freshly baked pizza to desserts. It was a never ending affair for the night, it seemed. And what a dessert bar it was !!! I was smitten by the elaborate pastries, pies, creams, custards, truffles, ice creams, pastel shaded meringues and what not. There were scrumptiously looking sweet treats all over the dessert bar.
When Deeba, Ruchira and Parul came in, we started taking shots of the food which was served. They were so humble that it took me no time to get along with the stream. Surrounded by so many beautiful things around, we couldn’t stop ourselves from keep clicking. Starting with the antipasti, we were served with some gorgeous signature salads, which included Insalata Caprese {salad of wine pickle tomato and buffalo bocconcini, toasted pine nuts and basil} and another one with Grilled watermelon with feta, walnuts and some peppery rocket leaves. Both the salads were as refreshing as they could be. Sweet and tangy wine pickled tomatoes paired quite well with palate cleansing bocconcini. After these two cold salads, it was a warm Asian salad, stir fried shitake, wonton and baby spinach with pok choi , red pepper, tomato and Asian condiments, prepared by Chef Arup Sarkar and Chef Prashant. It was so flavorful that I could feel each of them exploding on my tongue. That was the best salad, I had that night.
In main course, we were served Lamb Tajine with chick pea and mint couscous, which was another signature dish of theirs. The lamb was so succulent and tender, that it just melted in my mouth. The sweet and aromatic spices were so nicely infused into the lamb. It was simply Divine.
Initially when I looked at the dessert bar, I had decided to eat less of the main course, so that I could save my appetite for the desserts. But by the time, we finished our main course, we were so full !!! But again, having a big-big sweet
tooth mouth, I couldn’t resist to those enticing sweet treats. I was again sitting on my dinner table with a plate full of those delicacies. Out of all the dessert, there were two which picked my attention that night. Anise & coconut flavored mascarpone wih passionfruit gelee on top and the Coffee ice cream. Velvety mascarpone flavored with spices was something unique, which I hadn’t tasted before. And the deep flavor of espresso in the ice cream summed up the dinner very beautifully. Restaurant boasts of a very good pastry chef. And they indeed have one.
Both the desserts are inspiring me to cook them once. Hopefully you’ll get to see a few of the inspirations getting transformed here in near future. All in all, it was a fun and a cozy evening with so many wonderful delicacies. And I felt quite content after discussing about food and spending nice time with the bunch of nice and chatty people.
